Filipinos celebrate Chinese New Year because of the close relationship between the Philippines and China throughout history. Many Filipinos have Chinese ancestors, and Chinese culture has deeply influenced the Philippines. This is seen in food, language, and traditions. The Filipino-Chinese community is large and important to the country. The government even makes Chinese New Year a holiday in some areas. People enjoy the fun celebrations like parades with dragons and lions, and the holiday's focus on family and good luck is something many Filipinos relate to.

This quarter taught me much about handling pressure, whether in school or sports. I learned that planning my time really helps me balance everything.   I am John Paul P. Ben and i live in Tamag Vigan City, I was born on January 15, 2009. I have three siblings and i am the youngest son of Mr. & Mrs. Ben. My older brother has his own family and also my sister has her own family. So i live with one of my older brothers, of mine who has no family. And i always get spoiled because i am the only one who's still studying. My father died when i was 4 years old, and my mom taught me to be strong at that time. I am so proud of my mom because she plays both the role of mother and father for me. So I grew up without my dad by my side, after many years my mother died. After losing my mom at a very young age my life became miserable. It's hard to live without my mom and dad. And having to force myself to grow up and be independent from a very young age.
