Appreciation and Gratitude

Image
blog #1 This Valentine's Day, let us not forget to say thank you.  Thank you to the individuals who brighten our lives, who love us for who we are, and who are always there.  A simple "I appreciate you" can go a long way. It's simple to get swept up in the gift pressure and expensive dinners, but sometimes the best Valentine's Day is just spending quality time together.  Express your appreciation by really listening, lending a helping hand, or by simply being there.  Those little things say a lot. So, no matter with whom you are celebrating, with your partner, family, or friends, do take a moment to say thanks.  It's the greatest gift you can give, and the greatest way to make this Valentine's Day really special.

3rd quarter reflection

Image
Draft #5 Reflection  This quarter, I discovered the power of teamwork, learning the importance of collaboration, shared ideas, and mutual support. I also learned the value of adaptability and flexibility in navigating challenging situations.   A significant challenge was time management, specifically the negative impact of cramming and resulting lack of sleep. This affected my ability to focus and perform effectively. To address these challenges, I implemented a structured schedule, prioritized tasks, and focused my attention effectively. I also practiced positive self-talk, celebrated small achievement, and importantly, actively sought help from classmates and family members. I began to break down large assignments into smaller, more manageable tasks to avoid last-minute cramming. I also prioritized getting sufficient sleep to improve my focus and overall well-being. I will go on to strive for new learning and new challenges, and forge strong relationships with m...

Filipino Lunar New Year Celebrations

Image
Blogs #4 "Chinese New Year" Filipinos celebrate Chinese New Year because of the close relationship between the Philippines and China throughout history. Many Filipinos have Chinese ancestors, and Chinese culture has deeply influenced the Philippines. This is seen in food, language, and traditions. The Filipino-Chinese community is large and important to the country. The government even makes Chinese New Year a holiday in some areas. People enjoy the fun celebrations like parades with dragons and lions, and the holiday's focus on family and good luck is something many Filipinos relate to.

vigan's transformation

Draft no.3 Before 1995, Vigan was a bustling municipality. It became famous for its grand Spanish colonial architecture and rich cultural heritage. It thrived on its unique charm, attracting visitors from far and wide. Being a municipality meant limited resources, with less control over destiny. Growth felt restricted; its history was strength but created limitations to economic changes. The town focused on preserving its past, a noble goal, but one that sometimes felt at odds with the desire for progress. Then came cityhood. The year 1995 marked a turning point. Becoming a city brought with it a significant boost in resources and, importantly, greater autonomy. Investment poured in, opening up opportunities beyond tourism. New roads were built, utilities improved, and public services expanded. The city government gained the power and capacity to address local issues more effectively. Vigan was a city that was visibly transforming, becoming and changing while still holding onto s...
