Before 1995, Vigan was a bustling municipality. It became famous for its grand Spanish colonial architecture and rich cultural heritage. It thrived on its unique charm, attracting visitors from far and wide. Being a municipality meant limited resources, with less control over destiny. Growth felt restricted; its history was strength but created limitations to economic changes. The town focused on preserving its past, a noble goal, but one that sometimes felt at odds with the desire for progress.

Then came cityhood. The year 1995 marked a turning point. Becoming a city brought with it a significant boost in resources and, importantly, greater autonomy. Investment poured in, opening up opportunities beyond tourism. New roads were built, utilities improved, and public services expanded. The city government gained the power and capacity to address local issues more effectively. Vigan was a city that was visibly transforming, becoming and changing while still holding onto some uniqueness.

But with progress came new challenges. The city now struggle with balancing its economic aspirations with the preservation of its historical heart. It's a delicate dance, ensuring that development does not overshadow the very essence of Vigan. Meeting the needs of a growing population—providing adequate housing, education, and healthcare—also demands careful planning and resource allocation. It's a story of remarkable transformation-a testament to the resilience and ambition of Vigan but also to the constant need to navigate the complexities of growth while cherishing its irreplaceable heritage.

  I am John Paul P. Ben and i live in Tamag Vigan City, I was born on January 15, 2009. I have three siblings and i am the youngest son of Mr. & Mrs. Ben. My older brother has his own family and also my sister has her own family. So i live with one of my older brothers, of mine who has no family. And i always get spoiled because i am the only one who's still studying. My father died when i was 4 years old, and my mom taught me to be strong at that time. I am so proud of my mom because she plays both the role of mother and father for me. So I grew up without my dad by my side, after many years my mother died. After losing my mom at a very young age my life became miserable. It's hard to live without my mom and dad. And having to force myself to grow up and be independent from a very young age.
