Thematic Q2

Image
This quarter taught me much about handling pressure, whether in school or sports. I learned that planning my time really helps me balance everything. It also showed me how important it is to stay positive and focused, even when things are tough. That's helped me feel more confident, whether I'm studying or playing. The biggest problem was the pressure from both school and sports. It seemed like a lot to handle sometimes lots of homework and tough practices. I sometimes doubted myself, especially before big tests or games. All that pressure made it hard to do my best in both areas.  To cope with this, I started using a planner for everything. This ensured that I had enough time for both study and practice. I learned to breathe deep and think of success while in tests and games as ways to keep my nerves calm. Talking to my friends and coaches really helped when I was feeling stressful, as they gave me support and advice. I will continue improving my time management skills. ...

A President Forged in War, Shaped by Reconstruction

Draft blog #4    Elpidio Quirino's life is intricately woven with the tumultuous history of the Philippines. Born in 1890, his early years were filled with academic excellence as he graduated with a law degree from the University of the Philippines. This excellent educational background was a springboard to his political career, which started when he was elected to the House of Representatives and later to the Senate. He gradually rose to prominence, demonstrating his political sagacity and his commitment to the service of the Filipino people. However, the idealistic course of his early career was soon disrupted by the brutal realities of World War II.   The war years changed Quirino's life forever. His unrelenting resistance against the Japanese occupation showed his patriotism and his bravery. The personal tragedy he experienced—the death of his wife and three children during the Battle of Manila—would leave an indelible mark on his character and the way he led. H...

Indigenous People Month

Image
Draft blog #3 October is Indigenous Peoples Month in the Philippines, a time to celebrate the rich diversity of Indigenous cultures and to reflect on the progress made and the challenges that remain in protecting their rights. This year marks the 27th anniversary of the Indigenous Peoples Rights Act (IPRA), a landmark law designed to safeguard their ancestral lands, cultural practices, and self-determination. The theme "Valuing, Nurturing, and Honoring Indigenous Peoples and Indigenous Knowledge" calls for the appreciation and regard for their unique contribution to the Filipino society. It is also a month of learning and celebration of the rich indigenous traditions and wisdom. The IPRA itself is the central theme of the month's commemorations. It is more than just a memory of how the law was passed; it is an assessment of how effective the law is and where its improvement is necessary. In this time, the government, along with the Indigenous people and other stakeholder...

Protection Violence About Children

Image
Protecting Children, Creating a Safe Philippines"-surely proves to be a call to action, a power that stands to awaken the Filipino people to the reality of protecting our children and creating a safe environment where they would grow and thrive. This is a serious problem we need to acknowledge in the Philippines-violence against children-is not alright and needs to be stopped by all means. We ought to show information on various forms of violence: from corporal, overt abuse to neglect and exploitation. We have to promote positive parenting and support families in need. We can only speak so much, but we have to act. That means strengthening child protection systems, providing support services for children who were hurt, and making sure perpetrators are held accountable. Together, we can break the cycle of violence and create a Philippines where every child is safe and can really reach his or her full potential. There are no ifs or buts about it; the world is heating up and the Philippines is bearing the brunt of this abuse and mismanagement. Due to the ever-increasing sea levels, house inundations have become a common sight and fishing or farming is fast becoming an unreachable dream. Cyclones and Typhoons are no longer a seasonal occurrence and rather have become frequent calamities destroying infrastructure, businesses and rendering people into poverty. With the temperature of the sea water rising and the acidity levels steaming, the ocean life and coral ...
